The board has been sealed in a mix of food safe mineral oil and bees wax to protect your board and enrich the grain in the wood.  

Why buy End Grain boards?

An end grain board provides you with a natural surface that is much more knife friendly then traditional face grain boards. 

Their design is more resistant to cuts and warps.  Each time you chop on an end grain board, the knife actually strikes between the wood fibres only temporary, before the wood fibres close again.   This is a great way to prolong both the life of your knives and cutting boards.
